NOHAC North Hungarian Automotive Cluster was established at the end of 2006 with the participation of three TIER 1 automotive suppliers (Remy Automotive Hungary Ltd., Delphi Calsonic Hungary Ltd. and ZF Hungary Ltd), the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of B.A.Z. County (BOKIK) and Innovation Management Cooperation Research Centre, University of Miskolc (ImKKK). The intention was to associate the automotive suppliers of the North Hungarian region in order to increase their competitiveness, profitability and innovativeness, bringing them closer to the european automotive industry and vice versa. During 2007 and 2008 many other companies joined NOHAC and today the number of associated members is 60. Most of them are metalworking and plastic-moulding companies (TIER 2 and TIER 3) and some are active in the field of engineering and automation. Today NOHAC members employ about 5,000 people and have an annual sales turnover of Eur 500 Million. The majority of the companies are ISO 9001 and TS 16949 certified. Main export markets are Germany, Austria, United Kingdom, Switzerland and the USA.
Actually there are 3 OEM??s in Hungary, AUDI and SUZUKI with car assemply and GM (Opel) with engine assembly and the 4th, Daimler will start Mercedes cars production in Kecskem??t, 80 kms southeast from Budapest in 2011.
